To Thu’s “Dreaming of Homeland” is a poignant collection of poems, capturing the profound homesickness and nostalgia of a refugee who twice fled the grasp of communism—in 1954 and again on the dark day of April 30, 1975—in search of freedom. The poems express a fervent hope that future generations will continue the struggle for freedom, democracy, and the reformation of Vietnam.
